Recipes – collections

By now I hope that you are convinced of the benefits of a whole-food plant-based diet (here is a 10 min video to remind you of what a ‘whole food’ is).

I have been working with a group of staff at my hospital and we have come up with a list of recipes that we have personally tried, liked, and found easy to prepare  – see here.

If you’re just getting started, there are some great starter recipes here (also see below under ‘quick and easy’).

In addition, here are some recipe websites to help you get going:

  1. Forks Over Knives website *– over 300 searchable recipes including:
    1.  Healthy versions of North American Classics
    2. Popular recipe collections (eg. Thanksgiving)
  2. Nutritionstudies.org – Excellent low fat plant-based recipes.
  3. Cooking With Plants – includes ‘quick and easy’ category
  4. Plantz St – includes videos of how to make them
  5. Dr Fuhrman – I really like how he integrates science into his recipes (not all plant-based however).
  6. Vegan Junction – List of the top 15 oil-free, plant-based recipe websites
  7. Robins Key – List of fresh recipes
  8. Plant-based school Lunches – video for kids here.
  9. EatPlant-Based.com – simple recipes with step-by-step pictures & instructions.
  10. Oh She Glows – very popular for tasty vegan recipes.
  11. Kris Carr – lady with quite the story and good plant-based recipes.
  12. Dr McDougall *– Low fat, vegan recipes
  13. Plantpure – approved by T Colin Campbell and searcheable by cuisine (eg Asian) and category (eg breakfast)
  14. UC Davis Integrative Medicine * – very healthy – note their most popular ones are here. More here *
  15. Gift of Health * – A colleague in Nova Scotia – some nice Indian Recipes here.
  16. Vedged Out – This lady had a nasty  condition called ulcerative colitis which went when she changed her diet.
  17. Thevegan8.com – 8 ingredient vegan recipes
  18. Hookedonplants.ca – over 100 recipes including 38 raw ones by a holistic nutritionist.
  19. Plantful Kiki – healthy weight loss and creative recipes
  20. Doctors for Nutrition – dietician approved recipes plus free meal plans and guidance for beginners.
  21. Plant-Powered Dietician – nice searchable selection, also some lovely freebies here.
  22. Happy Pear – Irish website with gut oriented recipes with videos too.
  23. Plant-based cooking show – lovely oil free recipes & videos.
  24. UK Plant-based Health Professionals Recipes.

In addition to avoiding animal products, the healthiest diet is low in fat and oil – here is an excellent article on how to cook without oil.
